Nicholas Williams
Nicholas Williams has worked with The University of ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳ Mississippi’s iTech department since 2006. Prior to joining iTech’s technology team, he worked in leadership roles with a number of other technology enterprises. Williams, a business and computer science major at ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳ Miss, has more than 25 years of experience in the technology field and holds certifications with Dell, Lenovo, Microsoft and CompTIA. Among his community duties, he is involved with a nonprofit organization that assists low-income and less fortunate families find funding for home repair and purchases.
What does the Director of Technology Support Services do?
- Provides direction and leadership to the Technology Support Services (TSS) group at The University of ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳ Mississippi. This group consists of the Help Desk, desktop technicians, LAN technicians, computer labs, switchboard operators, smart classrooms, audio-video support and equipment services
- Oversees projects, services and support functions required by faculty, staff and students
- Provides technical support for university hardware, software and peripherals
- Collaborates with faculty, staff and students and reviews trends to ensure the highest level of support is available
- Assists in developing new services that provide efficiencies for university constituents
- Keeps current on new advances in technology-related hardware and software
- Participates in strategic planning initiatives and other duties as assigned
List of accomplishments while at ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳ Miss:
- Established an after-hours support process
- Refined university-wide personal purchase discount program for hardware and software
- Increased equipment available for lab computing
- Created a support process for new students during Freshmen Move-in Day
- Created a dynamic online wiki for common technology support needs
- Developed hardware and software standards based on information gathered from university constituents
